Crystal Crate & Cargo will host a trunk show featuring Farm House Candle Company on Saturday, Feb.14, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is part of the Crystal Lake Community Business Association’s Winterfest activities centered in downtown Beulah.
Farm House Candle Company is a Leelanau County business that makes small batch, hand-poured soy candles in a combination of fruit, herb, and other natural scents. The artisan candles are made from 100% natural soy with essential and phthalate-free fragrance oils.
Candlemaker/proprietor Beth Gross chose 100% soy rather than traditional paraffin, a petroleum byproduct, to avoid the release of toxins into her home. By using 100% soy, which comes from Midwest farms, the candles also burn longer than petroleum/soy blends.
“I’ve always liked to burn candles in my kitchen and couldn’t always find scents that didn’t interfere with cooking aromas. I started experimenting with food scents like grapefruit, mint, orange, and cocoa and added outdoor scents like balsam, eucalyptus, and treemoss,” said Gross. “But my most popular scent is inspired by nostalgia—vanilla tobacco that smells like the pipe my grandfather smoked.”
The February 14 event will give shoppers a chance to experience Farm House Candle’s signature scents and to purchase candles with a bonus gift included. Crystal Crate & Cargo is located in downtown Beulah, which is open year-round seven days per week. For more information, call 231-882-5294 or 800-787-7366 or go to www.crystalcrate.com.
