Sausage-making Demo
Learn about one of the latest food trends, gourmet sausage-making, in a kitchen demonstration on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Crystal Crate and Cargo!
The Waring Pro Meat Grinder, available for purchase at the store (http://www.crystalcrate.com/store/kitchen/gadgets/waring-pro-meat-grinder.html) , will be demonstrated by Jackleen Carmack from 11:00am – 2:00pm. Jackleen is a long-time northern Michigan resident and a jeweler, who co-owns Jackleen’s Gems with her husband in downtown Beulah.
Though sausage making has been around for decades, recipes have been greatly refined in recent years creating healthier offerings and the process of making sausage has become a culinary art. ”With the focus on flavorful, healthy food, making your own sausage let’s the cook get creative and work with ingredients that are fresh an meets their personal tastes. Vegetarians can create casing sausages with a range of non-meat ingredients”, said Jackleen. During the demonstration she will create two of three types of casing (link) sausages. Attendees will be learning through participation and will be able to sample the results of the demonstration.
